Suesan Marline Knorr (September 27, 1966 - July 16, 1984), and Sheila Gay Sanders (March 13, 1965 - June 24, 1985), were teenaged sisters from Sacramento, California, who were both abused and later killed by their mother, Theresa Knorr. Suesan was shot and later killed by being burned alive and Sheila was beaten and then died of starvation while locked in a closet.

Abuse

None of Theresa Knorr's children were immune to the physical and psychological abuse she doled out. However, according to an interview with her surviving daughter, Terry (1970-2003), in an episode of A&E's Cold Case Files (titled "Mommy's Rules"), Knorr had a special hatred for her daughters Suesan and Sheila, fueled by jealousy that the girls were growing up and blossoming into young women while she faced the prospect of growing old and losing her looks. For years Knorr beat and tortured her daughters in various ways, including burning them with cigarettes and forcing them to eat large helpings of macaroni and cheese mixed with lard (if they vomited, she forced them to eat their vomit).

Suesan's Death

In a heated argument in 1982, Cross grabbed a 22-caliber pistol and shot Suesan in the chest. The bullet became lodged in her back, but her mother refused to seek medical help and left Suesan to die in the family bathtub. Suesan survived, so Cross then handcuffed her to a soap dish and began to nurse her back to health. Suesan eventually recovered from her wounds without professional treatment .

In 1984, Suesan decided to tell her mother she would like to move out. Cross agreed under one condition: that Suesan let her remove the bullet from her back. The removal took place on the kitchen floor, using Mellaril capsules and liquor as the anesthetic. Cross ordered Robert, Suesan's 15-year-old brother, to remove the bullet with a scalpel. Infection soon set in, her skin turned yellow from jaundice, and she became delirious. Suesan lay dying on the floor and Cross demanded the other children to merely walk over her. As Cross' daughter Terry told Cold Case Files, Cross told her other children that Suesan's illness was a result of possession by Satan and that the only way to purge the demon was with fire. She asked Suesan's brothers, Robert and Bill, to help her to dispose of their sister. They drove Suesan to Sierra Nevada, Interstate 80 outside Truckee, laid her down, poured petrol on her and burned her alive .

Sheila's Death

The following year, Suesan's older sister, 20-year-old Sheila, also died at the hands of her mother. According to Terry, Cross accused Sheila of transmitting an STD to her via a toilet seat, and thereafter, Cross's abuse of Sheila escalated. Sheila was locked in a closet and died of dehydration several days later. Her body was packed into a cardboard box and dumped along the side of a road. She remained unidentified for years afterward.

Subsequently, Terry Knorr claimed, Cross forced her to burn down the Sacramento apartment the family had called home, hoping to destroy any evidence that might implicate her in Sheila's death. Terry later said she survived because she stood up to her mother and demanded to be allowed to leave the house.

Aftermath

Cross was eventually caught based on a police report from Terry, who, according to her Cold Case Files interview, was inspired to contact authorities after watching an episode of America's Most Wanted. On November 15, 1993, Theresa was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, and two special circumstances charges: multiple murder and murder by torture. On October 17, 1995, she was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences. She will be eligible for parole in 2027.

Terry Knorr died in 2003 of a heart attack at the age of 32, just three and a half months after her appearance on Cold Case Files.

Ceramic forming techniques

I want to introduct something about .

Ceramic forming techniques are ways of forming ceramic shapes. This can be used to make everyday tableware from teapots, to engineering ceramics such as computer parts. Methods for forming ceramic powders into complex shapes are desirable in many areas of technology. For example, such methods are required for producing advanced, high-temperature structural parts such as heat engine components, recuperators and the like from ceramic powders. Typical parts produced with this production operation include impellers made from stainless steel, bronze, complex cutting tools, plastic mold tooling, and others. Typical materials used are: wood, metal, water, plaster, epoxy and STLs, silica, and zirconia. This production operation is well known for providing tools with dimensional stability, surface quality, density and uniformity. For instance, on the slip casting process the cast part is of high concentration of pure ceramic powder with little additive, this improves uniformity. But also, the plaster of Paris mold draws water from the poured slip to compact and form the casting at the mold surface. This forms a dense cast.

Forming Techniques

There are many forming techniques to make ceramics, but one example is slipcasting. This is where slip, liquid clay, is poured into a plaster of Paris mold. The water in the slip is drawn out of the slip, leaving an inside layer of solid clay. When this is thick enough, the excess slip can be removed from the mold. When dry, the solid clay can then also be removed. The slip used in slip casting is often liquified with a substance that reduces the need for additional water to soften the slip; this prevents excessive shrinkage which occurs when a piece containing a lot of water dries.

Slip Casting

Main article: Slipcasting

The original mold for a slip cast, as well as the pieces themselves in many individual works of ceramics, can be thrown on a potter's wheel. The advantage of the wheel in forming ceramic vessels is that its rotation allows symmetrical adjustments to the piece, resulting in a uniform and balanced pot. Throwing, as forming ceramics on a wheel is called, consists of three or four steps. First, the clay must be centered on the wheel. (The pot will likely be ruined if this step is completed improperly or if the piece is allowed to become un-centered at any point in the process.) Second, the center must be opened. Third, the clay forming the walls of the pot must be squeezed gently in order to force the clay upwards, causing the pot to become taller. Fourth (this step is omitted entirely in the creation of simple objects such as cylinders and bowls) the pot must be coaxed into the desired shape by carefully pushing in the appropriate direction. A finished pot is cut off the wheel with a wire tool. "Feet" may be trimmed into the bottoms of some pieces; this is accomplished by allowing the thrown pot to dry to leather hard and then centering it upside down on the wheel, then carving into the middle of the base of the piece with a trimming tool.

Slip-casting methods provide superior surface quality, density and uniformity in casting high-purity ceramic materials over other ceramic casting techniques, such as hydraulic casting, since the cast part is a higher concentration of pure ceramic powder with little additives. Ceramic powder is compacted in the slip casting process and sintered or bonded together at high furnace temperatures. A slip is a crowded suspension of fine ceramic powder in a liquid such as water or alcohol with small amounts of secondary materials such as dispersants, surfactants and binders. Early slip casting techniques employed a plaster-of-Paris block or flask mold. The plaster-of-Paris mold draws water from the poured slip to compact and form the casting at the mold surface. This forms a dense cast form removing deleterious air gaps and minimizing shrinkage in the final sintering process.

Ceramic Shell Casting

Ceramic shell casting techniques using silica, zirconia and other refractory materials are currently used by the metal parts industry for `net casting,` forming precision shell molds for molten metal casting. The technique involves a successive wet dipping and dry powder coating or stucco to build up the mold shell layer. The shell casting method in general is known for dimensional stability and is used in many net-casting processes for aerospace and other industries in molten metal casting. Automated facilities use multiple wax patterns on trees, large slurry mixers and fluidic powder beds for automated dipping.

Other Techniques

There are also several traditional techniques of handbuilding, such as pinching, soft slab, hard slab, and coil construction.

Wacky WallWalker

I want to introduct something about .

The Wacky WallWalker was a toy molded out of a sticky elastomer. It was shaped similar to an octopus, and when thrown against a wall would "walk" its way down. It was a hugely popular toy in the early 1980s.

Before its introduction in the United States, Ken Hakuta received in the mail several sticky octopus-like toys from his mother, who lived in Japan. They were intended for his children, but Hakuta found himself fascinated with the toy, which was called Tako in Japan. He realized their marketing potential, and after purchasing rights to the product in 1983 for $100,000, he began to market them locally in Washington, D.C., dubbing them "Wacky WallWalkers". Their popularity was mediocre, until Nina Hyde of The Washington Post wrote a feature story on them. This created a buzz, and people in the Washington area flooded local stores to purchase them.[citation needed] Within the next several months, hundreds of media outlets ran stories on them, creating one of the biggest selling fads of all time.[citation needed] As the fad began to decline, over 240 million Wacky WallWalkers had been sold, raking in about 80 million dollars.[citation needed]

The popular toy was featured in the 1983 animated Christmas special Deck the Halls with Wacky Walls, starring the voices of Daws Butler, Tress Macneille, and Marvin Kaplan. The show featured seven Wallwalkers from the planet Kling-Kling: Big Blue, Springette, Bouncing Baby Boo, Crazylegs, Stickum, Wacko, and their leader, Kling-Kling . One character in the special was modeled after Hakuta's son, Kenzo.

Clearing by individuals

Manual snow removal

In countries with light snow, brooms can be used to brush off snow from walks and other surfaces. In colder regions with more precipitation, the main tools of the private snow clearer are the snow shovel, a large lightweight shovel used to push snow and lift it, and the snow scoop, a large and deep hopper-like implement fitted with a wide handle and designed to scoop up a load of snow and slide it on any slippery surface to another location without lifting. Shovelling entails a considerable amount of work and can be a strain on the back and the heart. Each year many senior citizens and middle aged persons die from heart attacks while shovelling snow[citation needed]. Those unwilling or unable to labour, especially those with large driveways or other substantial surfaces may use a snow blower, as well as people that live in areas with long lasting winters with large amounts of snowfall. Others may hire a contractor with a plow bearing truck or a shovel. After a large snowfall businessmen with plow trucks often drive through cities offering to plow for money. A recent technological advance is the snowmelt system that heats the pavement from below and melts snow and ice after a period of time. Such systems are expensive to install and operate and they are not cost effective in areas with very low winter temperatures and large snowfalls. Some governments offer free snow clearing for the elderly and others in need.

Dealing with ice is more difficult. Snow blowers are rarely effective. Picks are sometimes used, but a solid spade can break through most ice. There is always the risk of damaging the pavement with these instruments. Icy areas can be covered with salt or some other substance, bags of which are widely available.

Clearing by contractors

Clearing a residential driveway in Incline Village, Nevada

Hiring a contractor with a winter service vehicle or a shovel.

In many high elevation or heavy snow accumulating areas, companies with snow removal equipment offer to provide services to remove the snow. Contractors may work on a per-time basis, full season contract, or will-call status. Per-time service (or per-push) is usually invoiced monthly and customers will be charged for each time services are provided. Some companies will charge per-time and per-inch where the depth of the snow is even taken into account. A full season contract is quoted and paid upfront at the start of the season and services will be provided automatically according to the contracted terms. All companies have different terms so make sure to understand the agreement. For example, some full season contracts will expire after X amount of trips where others are unlimited. And finally, will-call service is where the client makes contact with the snow removal company to initiate a single clearing. This is not an automatic service and charges are usually higher for will-call jobs.

Snow removal services may include driveway and parking area snow removal, walkway and deck handwork, and occasionally roof clearing. Contractors use hand shovels, walk behind snowblowers (or snow throwers), truck plows, skid-steers, light-weight tractors, and heavy front-end loaders. Many times, these machines will require use of tire chains to perform their tasks. Snow may be pushed by plowing methods or blown to an area of the property by snowblowers. Contracts may apply sand or salt in some locations to help melt ice accumulations.

Many snow removal contractors will require installation of snow poles or snow staking along the driveway. This is to keep equipment out of the landscaping and to help identify the perimeter of an area.

Contractors should be licensed and insured.

Clearing by cities

Snowblower in Rocky Mountain National Park, 1933

Cities clear snow on a much larger scale than individuals. Most cities in areas that get regular snow maintain a fleet of snow clearing vehicles. The first to be dispatched are gritters who do some plowing but also salt the road. The salt, via freezing point depression, helps melt the snow and ice and also gives vehicles more traction. Later, generally once the snow has ceased falling, front end loaders with snowplow attachments and graders cover every street pushing snow to the side of the road. Salt trucks often then return to deal with any remaining ice and snow. The trucks generally travel much faster than...(and so on)

I want to introduct something about Genuine Leather Handbags.
Genuine Leather Handbags
We have a rich collection of high quality genuine leather handbags for ladies and the models that we publish on alibaba are only a few of them. Each model has different colors and can be made with different types of leathers (suede/vegetal leather/washed leather). All have excellent finishings and very clean craftsmanship. ControlNet is an open industrial network protocol for industrial automation applications, this is also known as a fieldbus. ControlNet was earlier supported by ControlNet International, but in 2008 support and management of ControlNet was transferred to ODVA, which now manages all protocols in the Common Industrial Protocol family.

ControlNet defines a unique physical layer based on RG-6 coaxial cable with BNC connectors. Features which sets ControlNet apart from other fieldbusses includes the built in support for fully redundant cables and the fact that all communication on ControlNet is strictly scheduled and highly deterministic.

The physical layer signaling is based on Manchester code at 5 Mbit/s.

The ControlNet application layer protocol is based on the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) layer which is also used in DeviceNet and EtherNet/IP.

Controlnet's scheduled message system requires that the media be robustly designed and meticulously maintained. A break in the media invariably causes any running program to stop and often leads to processor faults. The media is checked with a handheld device known as a "Network Checker" in conjunction with a DSO running at 100 MHz or higher. Controlnet was designed after the PLC5 was released, so the PLC5 has some inherent troubles using it. In Rockwell PLC systems the network is configured via RSNetworx For Controlnet. By opening this program the network is scanned and a graphical screen is populated with each node on the network. Each processor has a "scanlist configuration" which shows its connections to remote racks, frequency drives, and any other devices that communicate with it. This program performs for remote racks essentially the same functions as the I/O configuration in the local rack. In the I/O configuration table of Logix, analog cards can be assigned block transfers. In RSNetworx for Controlnet analog cards in remote racks are assigned scheduled messages in blocks of words. Processors communicate with each other via "Produce" and "consume" tags. A processor's produce tag, for instance, may be 50 words starting at N35:900. This block will be broadcast for any other processor to consume. Likewise, the same processor may consume 50 words starting at N32:950 from another processor.

Description

Each character position or graphic position has a collection of flaps on which the characters or graphics are painted or silkscreened. These flaps are precisely rotated to show the desired character or graphic. Today, these displays are often found in train stations and airports, where they typically display departure and/or arrival information, although digital equivalents are far more common now.

Such displays are often called 'Solari boards', named after Solari & C. Udine, a large manufacturer of such boards continuing to the present day.

Sometimes the flaps are large and display whole words, and in other installations there are several smaller flaps, each displaying a single character. The former method is of course limited on the words it can display by what is on the flaps, whereas the latter system is not and output messages can be changed without the need for the addition or replacement of flaps, although images cannot. In the example image on the right, we can see that the destinations in the centre of the picture of split up into characters, whereas the messages left and right of these occupy entire flaps.

Flip-dot displays and LED display boards may be used instead of split-flap displays in most applications. Their output can be varied more easily (by reprogramming instead of replacement of physical parts in the case of graphics) but they suffer from lower readability. They also can refresh more quickly, as most split-flap displays only rotate in one direction.

Many game shows of the 1970s used this type of display for the contestant podium scoreboards. Usually, the flip was left-to-right on a vertical axis, although up/down on a horizontal axis was not completely unknown.

Advantages to these displays include:

high visibility and wide viewing angle in most lighting conditions;

little or no power consumption while the display remains static; and

fault-tolerance during a power loss or disruption -- the display will not normally reset.

Distinct sound draws attention to the board when the information is updated.

In the case of the latter the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has specifically designed the new LCD replacements for its aging Solari boards at North Station and South Station to emit an electronically generated flapping noise to cue passengers to train boarding updates.

Notable Performances; First in the UK 'Round the Island' race non-IOR against 700 yachts. First in Tomatin Triohy as scratch boat giving J 24's nearly 2 min's an hour handicap advantage.

Accommodation

With a wide beam and a long waterline length equal to that of a ? tonne yacht the North 26 is comparitably a big volume boat for its length. But is definitely not a loating caravan as its performance attests.

The standard layout has two separate cabins plus a separate toilet compartment. The forward cabin contains a full length V- berth. The main salon has a full length settee on the starboard side with deep lockers above, below the deck. A quarter berth extends beneath the cockpit on the same side. On the port side is the galley with built in two burner spirit stove, a sink and a deep icebox beside the companionway. A folding table can be hinged from the centre board case with a short settee on the port side. An alternative layout would allow for two full length settees and two quarter berths with the galley above the port side and the use of a portable icebox.

This boat can cruise comfortably with four adults and accommodate 5 or 6 people when need be, say after a race.

Number of crew to race = 4 or 5, Berths = 5 or 6, Galley =provision for 2 burner stove and sink, portable icebox. Water bladder. Head = portable in separate compartment, Navigation =in salon, Maximum headroom = 5.5 ft, 1.75 m, to standard plan. But 5 ft 11 in (1.88 m) in versions where 5 inches (125 mm) added to the hull freeboard, allows full standing headroom for most people.

Special features

Outboard motor housed in locker with bomb-bay doors at companionway. Doors close up when sailing. Hydraulic operated keel lifting. Keel can be bolted down when racing.

The halyards and sheets lead back to the companionway for central control including mainsail furling, two winches located on the cabin top and two on the side decks handle all tasks. The mast design chosen avoids the need for running backstays, as these are definitely a hindrance and safety problem when cruising short handed.

A deep anchor locker is provided in the bow, ample room for an electric winch. When the outboard is lowered in its bridge-deck well, the propeller is on the centreline of the boat and well forwards of the stern, so that even in rough conditions the prop will not come out of the water, a problem with stern mounted outboards. When not in use the outboard is out of the way and protected without the need for heavy lifting and removal each trip.

Towable with large 4 WD of about 4 litres, depending on local transport regulations.

Construction

Country of origin, UK

Hull material, design for Ply, Aluminium or Fibreglass. Multichine for ease of amateur construction. The boat is built inverted for ease of access, using fabricated ply or aluminium frames. To minimise ply wastage and enable quick fit out the bulkheads form part of the furniture. There is no need for full size patterns as each frame is fully dimensioned on the drawings. Fiber cement siding (or "fibre cement cladding" in the UK and Australasia) is a building material used to cover the exterior of a building in both commercial and domestic applications.

Usage

Fibre cement is a composite material made of sand, cement and cellulose fibers. In appearance fibre cement cladding most often consists of overlapping horizontal boards, imitating wooden cladding, clapboard and imitation shingles. Fiber cement siding is also manufactured in a sheet form and is used not only as cladding but is also commonly used as a soffit / eave lining and as a tile underlay on decks and in bathrooms.

CSR Fiber Cement sheet cladding - dwelling addition, Hardys Bay, NSW, Australia (Article)

Fiber cement cladding is not only used as an exterior cladding, it can also be utilised as a substitute for timber fascias and barge boards in high fire areas.

Specifications

Fibre cement sheeting products are manufactured in Australia by CSR, BGC and James Hardie in accordance with Australian Standard 2908.2000, "Cellulose Cement Products". Fiber cement siding and sheeting is produced in the United States by CertainTeed Corporation. In Europe, these products are manufactured and marketed by Eternit.

Sheet sizes vary slightly from manufacture to manufacture but generally they range between 2400 3000 mm in length and 900 1200mm in width (600 & 450 mm increments). This manufactured size minimises on-site wastage as residential floor, wall and roof structures lay structural members at 450 or 600 centres.

Fibre cement thicknesses vary between 4.5-18mm and also vary in density the lower density resulting in a fibrous rough edge when cut and the higher density having a cleaner smoother edge when cut.

Thermal resistance and sound transmission vary greatly between fiber cement products. Fiber cement sheet products rate poorly in thermal resistance and sound transmission and separate wall insulation is highly recommended. Generally the thicker and denser the product the better resistance it will have to temperature and sound transmission.

Installation

Fibre cement cladding is a very heavy product and requires two people to carry the uncut sheets. Thin fibre cement cladding is fragile before installation and must be handled carefully; it is prone to chipping and breakage if improperly handled.

Once the product is cut it may again require two people to install one to hold the sheet flush against studwork and the other to nail the product in place.

Cutting fibre cement cladding sheeting usually requires a mechanised saw or metal hand shears and sheets can be cut to size in three ways:

Thinner sheets can be scored with a heavy duty cutting blade and snapped

Purpose made "fibro cutter" (an Australian term)

Thicker and denser sheets require cutting by a mechanical saw

Some caution must be exercised to properly ventilate areas where FCS is being cut; long-term exposure to the silica dust generated during the installation process can cause silicosis.

Fibre cement cladding can be painted before or after installation. (For areas of exposure, weatherproof paint must be used.) Once the product is fixed the joints are usually covered with timber battens and the entire wall surface is painted.

Detail - timber battens on fibre cement cladding, dwelling addition, Hardys Bay, NSW, Australia (Article)

History

Fibre cement products came about as a replacement for the widely used "Asbestos Cement Sheeting" product manufactured by "James Hardie" until the late 1980s.

Durability

The external cladding products require very little maintenance once installed and painted. The thicker/denser fiber cement products have excellent impact resistance but the thinner less dense products need to be protected from impact.

Fire Resistance

Fibre cement cladding is a non combustible material which is widely used in high bush fire prone areas throughout Australia . Pictured above is CSRs' Fiber Cement cladding inea board which has been substituted for the traditional timber fascia and barge board materials.

Alternatives

Competitors to fiber cement cladding are imitation clapboard include vinyl, PVC, wood composite products and aluminum siding. Compared to wooden siding, fiber cement is not susceptible to termites or rot.

Lead came and Copper foil glasswork are the arts and crafts of cutting colored glass and joining the pieces into picturesque designs.

The traditional method uses lead came. This is the method used for centuries in Europe, mainly in Religious buildings such as cathedrals, churches and monasteries, and including wealthy or aristocratic homes.

An alternative method, replacing the lead came with copper foil, was invented in the 19th century, enabling creation of three-dimensional works, in addition to two-dimensional ones to which the lead came method is limited. The copper foil artwork is commonly called Tiffany stained glass, even though there is a debate about whether John La Farge or Louis Comfort Tiffany invented this alternative to lead came glasswork.

Overview

In both lead came and copper foil glasswork, cut pieces of stained glass are joined together in a framework of lead.

In the lead came method the pieces of glass are embedded into the channels of the came, and the joints between the came strips soldered together.

In the copper foil method, the edges of the glass pieces are wrapped with adhesive copper tape, and soldered together along the adjacent copper strips.

The process

The steps in creation of Lead Came and Copper Foil Glasswork

Design

The first step for both techniques is to create a design on paper. This draft must consider constraints such as reduction of buckling risk, overall structural integrity, limiting the convergence of lead lines, and cuttability of each piece of glass within.

The next step is to make a template copy of the design for cutting the glass. The width of the lead came or the copper foil that separates the pieces of glass may be compensated for with double blade pattern shears that remove a thin strip of material on the template copy.

For large designs, a scale model may be made, which is digitally photographed and further modified with AutoCAD. After measurements and other notations are applied, the full pattern is printed on a large-format printer.

Transferring the design to glass

Four methods may be employed.

The cut paper may be glued to the glass before cutting it

The cut paper to may be pressed against the glass and its outline traced on the glass with a marker.

The pattern may be affixed to a light box or light source. Sheet glass is placed over the pattern, and traced with a marker.

The edge of the pattern piece may be followed with the cutter.

Cutting the glass

The glass is scored using a steel or carbide wheel glass cutter lubricated with cutting oil. Glass is broken at the score using breaker-grozier pliers, running pliers or built in groziers on a traditional glass cutter. This works because glass breaks along its weakest point when it bends. The ball end on many glass cutters is used to break complicated cuts in a piece of glass. Tapping the ball end along the score on the opposite side of the glass sends a vibration through the glass that helps it break along the score. Also, the notches in most basic glass cutters can be used to grab small bits of glass for breaking.

Grinding the cut glass

At this stage, the cut glass pieces have sharp edges and inaccuracies in their shape. The glazier can use an electric glass grinder with a diamond-coated grinding wheel to smooth the glass pieces, or a carborundum stone.

Glass saws

An alternative to the cutting and grinding steps is the use of a ring saw or band saw. Such saws permit the cutting of shapes impossible with a wheel cutter.

This is where the processes for each of the two methods split. The next section describes the steps for the lead came method. The equivalent copper foil steps are described in the copper foiling section below.

Lead came technique

A 16th century lead came glass window, church Notre Dame, Les Andelys, Normandy, France

The lead came has channels into which the glass pieces are inserted. There are two types of lead came: for the circumference of the design, came with a U-shaped cross section may be used, as it takes glass only on one of its sides. For the middle of the design, came with an H-shaped cross-section is...(and so on)

An antistatic floor mat or ground mat is one of a number of antistatic devices designed to help eliminate static electricity. It does this by having a conductive material embedded within the mat that collects the static. The mat would need to be grounded (earthed). This is usually accomplished by plugging into the grounded line in an electrical outlet. It's important to discharge at a slow rate, therefore a resistor should be used in earthing the mat. Some ground mats allow you to connect an antistatic wrist strap to them.

How memory foam reacts to heat

Memory foam is made from polyurethane with additional chemicals that increase its viscosity level, thereby increasing its density. It is often referred to as visco-elastic polyurethane foam. Depending on the chemicals used and its overall density, it is firmer in cool temperatures and softer when warm. Higher density memory foam reacts to body heat which allows it to mould itself to the shape of a warm body within a few minutes. A lower density memory foam is pressure-sensitive and will mould more quickly to the shape of the body. The example often used to demonstrate its properties is that a hand pressed into the foam and then removed will leave a clear impression in the foam.

History

Memory foam was originally developed by NASA to decrease the very high pressure caused by the extreme g-force occurring during the take-off of the space shuttle.[citation needed] It was never used in the space program but was subsequently used medically, for example by patients who used to lie in bed on hard or very firm mattresses for long periods of time without regularly moving such as being bed-bound after a paralyzing stroke. The pressure over some of their bony regions decreased or stopped the blood flow to the region causing pressure sores and/or gangrene. Memory foam mattresses helped hugely to decrease such events.

Memory foam was initially too expensive for general use[citation needed], but in recent years it has become cheaper to produce and is now widely available. Its most common domestic uses are mattresses, pillows, and mattress toppers. It still has medical uses, such as wheelchair seat cushions, hospital bed pillows and padding for persons suffering long-term pain or postural problems; for example, a memory foam cervical pillow may alleviate chronic neck pain. Its heat-retaining properties may help some pain sufferers who find the added warmth helps to decrease the pain.[citation needed]

A memory foam mattress is usually denser than an ordinary foam mattress. This makes it more supportive but also heavier. It is often seen as a good compromise between the comfort of a soft mattress and the supportiveness of a firm one. Memory foam mattresses often sell for more money than traditional mattresses but they may last longer due to their resistance to parasites such as dust mites.[citation needed]

The property of firmness (hard to soft) of memory foam is used in determining comfort. Firmness is measured by a foam's IFD (Indentation Force Deflection) rating.

IFD measures the force (in pounds) required to make a dent 1 inch into a foam sample 15" x 15" x 4" by a 8 inch diameter (50 sq in) disc - known as IFD @ 25% compression. IFD ratings for memory foams range between super soft (IFD 10) and semi-rigid (IFD 12). Most memory foam mattresses are firm (IFD 12 to IFD 16).

Some report that IFD is a poor way to measure softness of memory foam, and that foam density as a measure of quality is more important . Foam density of 5 lbs per cubic foot or greater is considered high quality.

Hazards

When new, some memory foams give off a distinct chemical odor which many people find unpleasant which some say is akin to the smell of paint. This odor decreases with airing, but some people remain sensitive to it. Emissions from memory foam mattresses may cause more respiratory irritation than other mattresses. Mildew and house dust mites may not occur as frequently so asthma attacks may be less frequent and severe

Memory foam, like other polyurethane products, can be combustible. State and US Federal Laws have been enacted in the USA to require all bedding, including memory foam items, be resistant to ignition from an open flame such as a candle or cigarette lighter. There has been some concern that high levels of the fire retardant PBDE, commonly used in memory foam, could cause health problems for users of memory foam bedding products.

Establishing Connections

To connect to another computer run TeamViewer on both machines without the need of an installation procedure. With the first start automatic partner IDs are generated on both computers. To establish a connection it is required to enter the partner ID and the password into TeamViewer.

Unattended servers

There is a Host Module which runs as system service. This allows users to connect to unattended PCs or servers.

VPN

TeamViewer includes the possibility to run a VPN (Virtual Private Network). The computers which are connected through a VPN behave like in a common network. This allows to share network resources with partners around the world.

Cross-platform

Cross-platform work is possible between Windows and Macintosh systems.

Personal and Enterprise editions

The personal-use version is provided for free, while the business editions start at $249. The personal-use version of the software has limited features compared to the commercial version, and it is not licensed for use in a commercial environment.

Extras which are provided additionally in the licensed version are the customization of the client module (QuickSupport) and the TV Manager, a database AddOn tool which allows the session logging for billing purposes.

Security

TeamViewer uses a full encryption, based on RSA private-/public key exchange and AES (256 Bit) session encoding.

As the private key never leaves the client and the host computer, it is ensured by this procedure that interconnected computers cannot decipher the data stream. Each TeamViewer client has already implemented the public key of the master cluster and can thus encrypt messages for the master server and check the signature of the master, respectively. This PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) effectively prevents Man-in-the-middle attacks.

Despite the encryption the password is never sent directly but only through a challenge-response procedure and is only saved on the local computer.

Career

The band formed in 1989 after KatieJane Garside answered an advertisement placed by guitarist Crispin Gray in the music press. Their gigs included grapevines and rag dolls strewn across the stage, and Garside thrashing around in soiled gowns drinking juice from a baby bottle.[citation needed]

The band was successful with their "LoveSickPleasure" EP which included the hit single, "Love Your Money" - primarily due to prime time appearances on ITV's The Chart Show and Channel 4's The Word. However, they had to decline appearing on BBC TV's Top of the Pops because Garside had a throat infection. "Love Your Money" reached number 26 in the UK Singles Chart in February 1992.

Turning down an offer to be signed to Madonna's Maverick record label, they later signed to the indie label, One Little Indian. The follow up singles "Pink Flower" (UK number 65) and "Hope Your Dreams Come True" flopped, as did Eleventeen (UK Albums Chart number 62). In 1993, Garside left the band.

After the departure of Garside, Daisy Chainsaw released a second album, For They Know Not What They Do, with Belinda Leith on vocals, and one more EP titled "You're Gruesome" with Crispin Gray replacing Leith before splitting up.

An episode of Roseanne mentioned the band, as one of Darlene Conner's favorites.

After the split of Daisy Chainsaw, a band named Dizzy Q Viper was formed, made up of previous Daisy Chainsaw members, Gray, Adams and Johnson. After Dizzy Q Viper, Vapid Dolly was created, and this band was made up Dizzy Q Viper members with the addition of Hanayo as lead vocals. The new millennium saw Garside and Gray musically reuniting to form Queen Adreena.

A battery eliminator is a device powered by an electrical source other than a battery, which then converts the source to a suitable DC voltage that may be used by a second device designed to be powered by batteries.
A battery eliminator eliminates the need to replace batteries but may remove the advantage of portability. A battery eliminator is also effective in replacing obsolete battery designs.
Some examples of battery eliminators:
9v mains power supply, size and shape of a PP9 battery, intended to replace the battery in portable radios. 1960s
Solar panel providing power for a portable appliance
History
Early commercial battery eliminators were produced by Edward S. Rogers, Sr. company in 1925, as a complement to his line of "batteryless" radio receivers. Another early producer of battery eliminators was the Galvin Manufacturing Corporation (later known as Motorola) which was opened on September 25, 1928 by Paul Galvin and his brother Joseph E. Galvin, to build battery eliminators for radio receivers installed in automobiles.
While it might seem surprising to use such a device in a car to power a radio, the first car radio receivers were based on vacuum tube technology which required two or three different voltages to function:
LT, typically 4 or 6.3 volts at high current to power the filaments
HT, typically 100 to 300 volts at low current to power the anode circuitry
Additional voltages were sometimes also required for grid bias.
Batteries designed for these portable vacuum tube receivers were a combination of several different battery types and sizes, combined in a single package and intended to slowly wear out at about the same rate. The battery typically connected to the radio via a specially shaped four- or five-pin connector, keyed so that the plug must be inserted correctly.
A battery eliminator would take the typical 6-volt or 12-volt DC power from a car battery and transform it into the required LT and HT needed to power the vacuum tubes in a car radio.
Without a battery eliminator, it was necessary to occasionally replace the battery pack in the vacuum-tube car radio.

Death in Silver is a Doc Savage pulp novel by Lester Dent writing under the house name Kenneth Robeson. It was published in October 1934.
It was the first Doc Savage story not to include all of his aides, due to author Lester Dent having difficulties using all six characters in every story. Only Ham, Monk and Pat appeared in Death in Silver.
The other three, less popular, main characters are described as being away on private ventures: Johnny giving a lecture in London, Long Tom experimenting on an electrical pesticide in Europe, and Renny building a hydro-electric plant in South Africa.
The original intent was that all three would become the basis of the next three novels.
Johnny's story became The Sea Magician in the next issue of Doc Savage, but this did not happen with all of them.
The follow-up adventure involving Renny later became the basis for the 1991 retro novel Python Isle by Will Murray.
Death in Silver was the third appearance of Pat Savage.

Summary
The Silver Death's-Heads, a gang of criminals who wear silver overalls and masks, have been committing seemingly random crimes for months. They become involved when they attack Paine L. Winthrop, a shipyard owner who has offices in the same building as Monk. When his office explodes, Monk and Ham investigate but are captured while reporting back to Doc Savage. With his other aides abroad, Doc Savage attempts to rescue them and solve the case alone. One of the first things he accomplishes is to deduce the nature of the explosion, which has eluded his aides and the police it was caused by a three-inch shell.
Investigating the deaths of other witnesses to the attack (a fisherman on the river and an aviator flying that day) leads Doc to Winthrop's Shipyards. The Silver Death's-Heads steal some blueprints to hide their secrets while Doc runs into Winthrop's Secretary, Lorna Zane, and efficiency expert, Harry "Rapid" Pace (who has the annoying habit of repeating almost everything twice). Doc leaves Lorna with his cousin Pat at her new beauty salon/gymnasium. Harry leads the Doc to the home of Bedford Burgess Gardner (owner of Transatlantic Lines and Winthorp's chief rival) based on a comment from the gang overheard at the shipyard.
Again they run into the gang, and pick up Hugh McCoy, Gardner's Financial Relations Consultant (advising on the merger with Paine L. Winthrop's company) and Pace's rival for Lorna Zane's affections. By questioning an injured gang member, who had been poisoned by his own gang, they find that Monk and Ham are held at the "Indian's Head". Doc browses a telephone directory at an all-night drug store and picks out the "Indian Head Club". When asked he explains that its address is on the waterfront and the Silver Death's-Heads always seem to escape by the river. His deduction is correct and, through stealth and violence, he rescues his aides. They all only narrowly miss being killed when the gang demolish the club with a bomb to destroy evidence. Meanwhile, the Silver Death's-Heads kidnap Pat and Lorna from Pat's salon.
Based on a map of New York Harbour found at the club before it exploded and burned down, Doc and Monk go out onto the foggy river to investigate. Diving from the boat, Doc discovers a submerged radio-buoy at a point marked on the map. Further investigation is cut short by a shell apparently fired by an unseen submarine. Ull, the leader of the Death's-Heads (but not the "big brain" behind their plans) sets a trap for Doc with Pat and Lorna as bait. A fake snitch calls Doc with some information but is cut off by a mock attack in another all-night drug store. They make sure to leave clues, especially a trail of footprints in vaseline (from a jar "accidentally" broken in the store), to lead Doc to their hideout. Doc follows the trail using ultraviolet light (because Petroleum jelly glows under ultraviolet light) but approaches the hideout itself in disguise. He is able to penetrate the hideout and successfully avoid the traps set for him but does not manage to rescue Pat or Lorna (as they are not really there).
